Blink 182 Concert in Sept

I got my ticket to go see the reunion tour of blink 182 later on in the year. The line up is going to be Asher Roth, The All American Rejects, Fallout Boy, and of course blink 182.

I am actually pretty excited about this concert mainly because of blink 182. I have been a fan of theirs since high school and I know all of their songs. Ogle is going to this concert with me since I went to the Van Halen reunion concert with him.

I have seen The All American Rejects once at a festival show and it would be cool to see them again but I would not be too bummed out if I miss them. The only song I know by Asher Roth is "I Love College" and that is an ok song. I think it is a song that anyone could have written by anyone who went to college and drank too much. I really have no care to him at all. And for Fallout Boy, I think they would be cool to see just so I could say I saw them in concert when they had more than one good song to play. When I go to the concert in September, I will let you guys know about the show. I just hope blink will sound better than they did on Jay Leno the other night. You can find out what I am talking about on links here and here.

Magic Mouthwash

I had to see the doctor last weekend because of my allergies. It seemed that my coughing and sneezing had affected my throat and he prescribed me some pill and sometime of medical mouthwash. This mouthwas is basically used to disenfect any germs I have while the pills kills everything.

I used the amount of the magic mouthwash that was printed on the label and within 30 seconds of using the product, my entire mouth was numb and I coundn't even talk. The doctor said that I would have to following the directions on the label and use the mouthwash every 3 to 4 hours. I couldn't do that because it basically made me sound like I was drunk and there is no way that I could go to work sounding like that at all. I will try and upload of video of it later on though just so you know what I am talking about.

Golf and Water Hazards

The other day, Austin, Cale, Paul and I went to the driving range to hit some golf balls and just hang out really. We went to the Arlington Golf Center because not only do they half a large driving range facility, but they also have miniature putting course and 1 dollar beers as well. The other three are extremely talented when it comes to golf. I am not. The most retarded kid at the Special Olympics is probably better than I am at golf.

One of the most memorable things about that night happened when we left the golf course to go to a bar called Caves. Now, Paul has been drinking for some time because he spent his day at the Rangers game while the rest of us have to work on Thursdays.

I have never seen Paul so drunk (in public before). As Paul and I were walking out of Caves to meet some people in the parking lot, Paul completely misjudged were his feet were and just bit it.

Caves does not have the best parking lot in the area, mainly because of all of the pot holes that have grown over the year to make it resembled the surface of the moon.

Anyway, as Paul fell, he collapsed into on of the largest potholes that was filled with water. He quickly became a drunk person with dry clothes to a drunk person who is now soaked with water while rolling around in the dirty trying to get out of the massive pothole.

Paul finally got out of the water hazard that is know as the Cave's parking lot. The poor kid had no clue what was going and and started to take off his shirt and hat and just throw them on random cars in the parking lot.

We finally ended the night by me taking him home to a somewhat angered wife named Katie and a after a quick visit to Taco Bell. I only ordered two tacos while Paul had 2 Nacho Supreme Burritos, 2 Double Supreme Chile Cheese Burritos, and 4 tacos. He texted me the next day and said that food was obviously a bad decision, not only for him, but for Katie as well.

Star Trek

Awesome movie, J.J. Abrahms is a bad ass.

Graduation Parties

Last week, a couple of my friends graduated from college and they each had a party to celebrate this milestone occasion. The first party, which was for my friend since high school Gayle.

She had a nice little get together at her house with some of her friends and family members as well. Her parents went all out. They made tons of great BBQ and everything that goes with that as well. One thing that I really enjoyed about the party was that there were some people that I have not seen since high school there and it was nice just to catch up with them. The other good part was all the free beer that Gayle had supplied for the party as well, but that is besides the point.

After that party, Austin and I headed our way to downtown Fort Worth to the second party of the night in honor of Natalie. Natalie had her party at 8.0s Bar. It is a really cool bar that features a live band when the weather permits.

Anyway, there was a good turn out for Natalie's party as well. She had some of her sorority sisters there along with her regular college friends that are obvious way more kick ass. I am only saying that because I believe that I belong in the kick ass friend category.

I also ran into another group of my friends that were at 8.0s just to see the live band that night. They joined us and we had an even better time. Shots were bought. Drinks were spilled. Laughter all over the place. And of course, some weird dancing moves from the crowd.

After the group of us closed the bar down, we then decided to eat at the most healthy place that is open at that time of night. IHOP. IHOP is always a good way to end a night of fun and debauchery but it feels like hell the morning after.

Houlihan's

A new bar opened at the Arlington Highland earlier this month. It is an awesome place called Houlihan's. Its a nice place that has a really cool wrap around porch/patio that also serves as a kick ass bar. A group of us went there for the first time to try some food and drinks. It was a Friday and almost 10 at night and we were not thinking that we were going to get any specials at all. Well, we were wrong.

Not to try to sound like a plug for this business on my blog, but the specials they had were pretty good. From 9 until close, all drinks and appetizers in the bar were half off, so of course we took full advantage of it. The majority of the group stayed until the bar closed down and then we went to a birthday party with hopes of an unfloated keg and jello shots that would last until the next morning. Unfortantly, our luck ended when we left Houlihan's.

So if you go to the Arlington Highland's, go to Houlihan's.

The Flight of the Conchords Concert

The Flight of the Conchords in thier most majestic pose Last night, Ogle Meagan and I went to go the Flight of the Conchords in concert at the Nokia Theatre. It was a really good show. The opening act was a comedian named Eugene Mirman, who also has a couple of guest appearnces on the Flight of the Conchords show on HBO.

Even though the show started about a half hour late, it was still worth it. The whole theatre was sold out and fans had been there for some time in hopes to just get a glimpse of the infamous duo.

They opened up the show with a techno song called "Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor" and they were dressed up in space suites with oversized square helmets on.
The band played for about an hour and a half and had two, that is right kids you are reading this correctly, two encores. They would talk and make jokes between the songs and they were amazed about how many condom shops there were in Dallas.
They ended the show with them dressed up as David Bowie and some pimp from the 70s. Lights were flashing all over the place and Jermaine (the one on the right) was going crazy on the drums. He would hit a cymbol once and then throw the drum stick to the crowd over and over again while Bret (the one on the left) was playing the guitar as fast and as awesome as he could. Awesome show and I cant wait to see them again.
You can find a review of the concert I went to here and one of my favorite songs that they do here.

Texas Frightmare Weekend 09

Alice Cooper and I at TFW 2009 This past weekend, I attended an event called "Texas Frightmare Weekend". It is an event that is completely devoted to all different types of horror/scary movies.

I got to meet tons of people at this even. My friend Jon and I got to meet the one and only Alice Cooper. He has to be one of the nicest and polite person I have ever met. I do think he may get a bad reputation just because people judge him solely on his music of the type of shows that he presents.

I was able to talk to Alice Cooper about golf (I only told him the stuff that I have heard from my friends) and said he really wanted to go but wouldn't have enough time to do so this weekend.

Some of the other people I got to meet where Corbin Bernsen ( Roger Dorn of Major League, and the main villain in the Dentist), Jason Mewes (Jay from Jay and Silent Bob), Fairuza Balk (American History X, The Craft, and Almost Famous), William Forsythe (from the Rock and the Devil's Rejects), and many others as well.

Some of the coolest people I got to meet was Johnathon Schaech (evil guy from Prom Night and the Lead singer from That Thing You Do) and Jana Kramer (from the new 90210). Wade, Darrell, Jon and I ran into them during the weekend and we got some autographs and pictures as well. Then that is when that fun started.

The four of us, after meeting Alice Cooper and the other celebrities, went to the hotel bar to get a few drinks. Johnathon Schaech and Jana Kramer came into the bar to get some drinks and they started to talk to us. They seemed really cool and Johnathon seemed to really like to drink. I would like to drink too if I was in the lead singer in That Thing You Do and everyone else's career turns out great and successful and I was stuck making some shitty movies that nobody will see even as a form of torture.

We ended up drinking with them for some time and then Derek Mears (The new Jason from Friday the 13th) shows up because he was there with Alice Cooper. He ordered us some shots and then a bunch of us went up and hang out in one of their rooms. Jana (the girl from 90210 and apparently Johnathon Schaech's girlfriend) seemed to become really annoyed due to the fact that Johnathon would rather drink and hang out with people instead of wanting to be with her. To be honest, I do not blame him because she quickly became annoying as hell as she was trying to tell people she was the best out there and how people were treating her poorly because her character didn't survive the movie "Prom Night". I think people were making fun of her because "Prom Night" sucked ass.

At about 4 in the morning, everyone decided to call it a night and we all went our separate ways. It was a pretty good time and not much was spent at the bar, so that was a major plus. I will try and put up the pictures on my photo site soon so you can see all of the shenanigans that occurred that fateful day.

Swine Flu

Everyone is scared about this swine flu. To be honest, I am a little pissed off about it because, since I work at a hospital, I now have to take tons of precautions that go way beyond normal everyday precautions. Some people want us to wear masks wherever we go while other thinks that we should quarantine anyone who may have any symptom of the flu at all. I think that is just retarded.

Also, my cousin is set to get married in Cancun later in the month of May and the airline they chose to fly on, Continental Airlines, refuses to fly to or from Mexico now. So hopefully they can find other arrangements without paying an obscene amount of money to do so. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trio altogether not only because of the flu epidemic, but also the price jumped up by 700 bucks. The good news, is that I got a refund and I will also receive a voucher for my airline ticket that can not be used.

I do know that it is somewhat serious because there have been some deaths in America due to the swine flu. So everyone just need to take precautions that you learned in the 1st grade like wash your hands and cover your mouth when you cough.

I also read that a hand sanitizer company in Missouri does about 2 thousand dollars worth of business a week prior to the sudden flu outbreak. Now, that same company makes about 30 thousand dollars because of the sudden and overwhelming demand of that particular product. I just wish I bought some stock before all this happen so I could be filthy rich.

ShedFest '09

This year, Paul decided to have a party to celebrate the shed that he got when he and Katie bought their first home. So they called the party "Shed Fest". Now, the history of the "shed" goes way back and it is basically an inside joke that kept on going to be more and more obscene every time we talked about it. The jokes obviously became so bad that I do not even want to post some of the tame stories on this blog.

The fest started 2 in the afternoon, but I, along with Brian(Paul's brother) got to the house around 11 in the morning to help set up the keg and the picnic tents. Of course, we had to set up the stereos for the music that was going to be played all day at on obnoxiously loud level. We also set up a couple of domino tables and an area devoted to horseshoes.

The guest started to show up around 2 in the afternoon and thing were going smooth. I would say that about 30 to 35 people showed up through out the entire event. Everyone brought tons of food and drinks, so you know that it was going to be a great time.

We started to grill the hamburgers, hot dogs, and shrimp around 6, we were going to grill a little later but you could tell that some people need to eat or the demon known as alcohol would take the best of us(which it eventually did anyway).

Around 10 is when stuff started to get really fun. At this time of the night, you could tell that everyone was in their prime. We attempted to play a drunken version of basketball and some dominoes. I am naturally horrible at basketball in the first place, so I figured that the booze could help build up my skills. I was wrong, it made me even worse.

We ended the night with some people in the hot tub until 6 the next morning and the rest of the group passed out in one of the extra rooms that were provided by Paul and Katie. Austin, for some reason unknown, decided to sleep in his car. Overall, it was a great party and hopefully I will put the pictures up on my photo website soon.
