St. Patty's Day

This year's St. Patty's Day was awesome. It actually started the Saturday before St. Patty's Day in Lower Greenville in Dallas. My friend Austin and I took the TRE and met up Jenn, Laura, David and a bunch of other people as well.

We missed the parade by only about 20 minutes, but all of the streets that were used for the parade were still closed down so people could just roam freely though out the day. One of the many cool things about this holiday is that you can just go to any 7-11, but some beer and just walk around drinking in public like it is no big deal. And that is exactly what we did.

As the day went on, and our 7-11 beers were getting us in the way of getting into real bars, we decided to check out some of the local bands that were playing through out the day at bars.

I don't remember what bar it was, but it did have a huge pirate ship float in front of it with tons of people in pirate costumes and looking to spray people with the cannon full of silly string and glitter. Inside, they had a pretty kick ass Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band that really seemed to know what they were doing.

After watching some more college alt-rock bands hoping to be signed and leave their horrible day jobs at taco bell, we decided to hit the other side of lower greenville where there were more bars and house parties as well.

The group of us went to some random house party and just played Foosball and decided that it was really boring, mainly because we are all equally horrible at the stupid game. We went bar hoping some more and and saw a really intense fight between some drunk guy in his mid-twenties thinking that he could take on the entire Dallas Police force. He obviously lost.

The day went well until we missed the last train home and had to call for a ride home from Austin's dad at 3 in morning. He greeted us with a big "get your dumb ass in the car and shut up". I felt like I was in high school all over again.

Of course, the night ended at IHOP after drinking since noon. I was pissed when I found out that they got rid of the All You Can Eat Special though.
